DEVELOPING THE VISION
FOR CLINTON’S 21ST CENTURY.
CLINTON, TENNESSEE.
It goes without saying that great waterfronts, especially those found in
urban areas, are defined by their public spaces along the water’s
edge. For Clinton, several of the basic elements are already present for
a comprehensive
waterfront recreation and open space. Construction of a pedestrian
bridge, where an existing highway once crossed the river, combined with a
new riverwalk will provide important connections to the recreation areas
at the proposed Carden Farm site, on the east bank of the Clinch River, and
the existing Lakefront Park located on the west bank.

These elements will add significant value to Clinton’s downtown waterfront by providing increased public amenities and access to the water’s edge, creating new areas for residents and visitors to circulate and congregate, and become a unifying link to the various waterfront functional areas. Furthermore, these recreation and open space areas can be linked back to the downtown area as well as to other area trails and parks.
