PROJECT DESCRIPTION.
The improvements to the Town Springs area would include
a new festival lawn, performance stage and parking. This area would become
an intimate gathering space at the site where Clinton was first settled to
be used for plays, concerts and other events. Functional and aesthetic improvements
necessary for to the existing high school football stadium would help to
integrate
these two projects which can be done concurrently or in separate phases of development.
OPPORTUNITIES.
- Creates an intimate, city center park around the existing historic Town Springs site
- Provides a permanent stage area for outdoor performances, plays, exhibits and other functions
- Organizes and defines streets and provides greater control for access and parking
- Provides additional parking for football stadium
- New restrooms/concessions for the stadium can be shared by the park area for use during events
- Functional/aesthetic improvements and ADA accessibility upgrades to the football playing field, fencing, seating and amenities as well as aesthetic improvements
- Connect existing parking on Broad Street to the park
- Provides a point of activity along the connection between Green McAdoo and the waterfront
