PROJECT DESCRIPTION.
To integrate the historic area of downtown around Market
and Commerce Street, various improvements are necessary to create the necessary
functional and visual links to the waterfront. The scope of work would
include the addition
of greenspace or other vegetation, enhancements to paving, sidewalks and other
hardscape surfaces
and branding the area with consistent signage, lighting and other streetscape
components.
OPPORTUNITIES.
- Beautify and enhance the experience in the historic downtown
- Provide critical link from the historic district to the waterfront
- Beautify and enhance the Commerce Street parking lot
- Create an intimate connection between Commerce Street and Market Street through the existing alleyway
- Potential private development with additional parking at Magnet Mills site
